You are the County Public Health advisor, on duty on a Friday afternoon, and receive a call from the town police dispatcher to respond to a home, where a series of 4 mercury containing thermostats have been broken in the kitchen by a repair crew. Upon arrival, you see small amounts of flowable mercury. The residents are still in the home, including two children under the age of 6. The family pet has played in the hazardous substance, and is running around the home. The crew has attempted a brief clean up with towels, and placed them in the kitchen trash.
